Sir Aldric carries the sword. I carry everything else.
(Formerly Packmaster.) Follows the party with a comically oversized backpack and carries the loot — a class built around inventory and logistics, which nothing else touches. A literal squire in a game about doing legendary heroes’ dirty work.
Design Pillars
- Inventory/logistics as a kit, not a chore
- No companion AI cost — the backpack does not path-find
- The premise’s employer/employee relationship, in miniature
First-Pass Kit (draft — numbers unvalidated)
- Signature — The Backpack (passive): allies can stow loot with you. Stowed loot belongs to the party, not the carrier — if the Squire extracts, it banks, even when the one who found it didn’t make it. The rule that loot dies with the fallen bends exactly here, and nowhere else.
- Hand It Over (free, once per activation): pass any carried item to or from an adjacent ally without spending an action. Logistics is tempo.
- Passive — Maintenance: at every rest, allies’ Guard repairs improve by 1, and your pack counts as an armorer’s kit, a torch, and probably whatever else was needed. It’s in here somewhere.
